안녕하세요 AHN-NYEONG HA SE YO MKS Families!!
Upcoming Events
Halloween “Party”, Saturday 10/30– Due to the prediction of rain, the Halloween party we planned for after school will be held during snack. Because of Covid safety concerns, this will NOT be an open event for all parents but the PTA will distribute goody bags and take pictures of the children for all classes. We apologize for this since we had planned a fun party for all. We hope to bring out the backdrop (picture below) so that families can take some pictures during pick-up. A big shout out to Judy, Lili, Naf, Jenny, Jeesun, Jeanna, and Grace for all of their planning to make this still happen!
Kimchi Time! Saturday 11/6– It’s kimjang season and we will have our own kimjang party with Principal Shin! Tap into your inner Korean ahjooma or halmoni (it’s ok if you are a man) and come out and make some kimchi with us. We are charging a nominal cost of $5 to participate because the ingredient costs have gone up (supply chain issues anyone?). Please RSVP to elimb@yahoo.com if you plan on participating since we will need an approximate headcount. More details will follow next week.
Korean Storytelling Contest, Saturday 11/20– As you all saw in Principal Shin’s email, the annual Korean Storytelling Contest is fast approaching. It’s a great opportunity for students to practice their Korean and gain confidence with public speaking. In the past, we have had participants ranging all classes Red (4 years) to Rainbow (13 years). It’s always fun to learn a new story or poem so please sign up!
We hope everyone had a great Halloween! A HUGE SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to all of our parents who decorated the cafeteria and supplied the goody bags for our mini party during snack last week!
Kimchi Time with Principal Shin!
As we have been announcing in celebration of Fall and kimchi making season in Korea, Principal Shin invites all of you to join her in making some kimchi this Saturday. Whether you have never made kimchi or you are an expert, this is a perfect opportunity to learn or show off your skills! Please join us in the cafeteria shortly after drop off. We have received a few RSVPs but it’s not too late to join us.
There is a nominal cost of $5 to participate. If you are participating please bring the following equipment and your good cheer:
-apron (unless you don’t mind getting kimchi juice/ingredients on you)
-cutting board
-knife (preferably a chef’s knife 6” or longer)
-containers to bring home your “home”made kimchi
All the ingredients for the kimchi will be provided by Principal Shin. We also just got a special delivery of “new crop” go choo ga roo (pepper flakes) directly from Korea so the kimchi should taste extra authentic!
*Please note that in order to enter the school building you must fill out the NYC DOE health survey. The health survey can be found at: https://healthscreening.
Please log in as a guest and fill out the suvey. The school or NYC facility is Lab Middle School.
