한국 예술과 문화 수업
한국 예술과 문화는 한국문화라는 콘텐츠를 이용한 미술 수업입니다. 학생들은 다양한 미술 활동을 통해 한국의 문화를 배우고, 체험하는 기회를 갖게 됩니다.
문화란 나무에 피는 꽃과 같습니다. 그 각각의 꽃을 따라가 보면 우리는 나무의 뿌리와 만나게 됩니다. 이와 같이 한국 예술과 문화 수업은 미술 활동을 통해 한국인의 뿌리와 정신을 만나는 수업입니다.
그림은 인류 최초의 언어였습니다. 인류는 그림을 통해 정보를 공유하고, 소통하고, 또 자기 자신을 표현하는 수단으로 사용해 왔습니다. 문자가 없던 시절 우리의 조상들은 반구대 암각화를 통해 공동체의 존립과 직결되는 고래를 사냥하는 방법부터 고래에 대한 귀중한 정보를 후손들에게 남겼고, 조선시대의 선비들과 규방의 여인들은 다양한 미술활동을 통해 그들의 정체성과 세계관을 표현했습니다. 한국 예술과 문화 수업은 미술이라는 도구를 통해 한국인 부모를 두고, 미국 시민으로 태어나 자라고 있는 우리 학생들에게 가장 자연스러운 방법으로 자신들의 정체성에 대해 생각해 보고, 또 표현해 볼 수 있는 소중한 교육적 기회를 제공합니다.
Korean art and culture class is an art class using contents of Korean culture. Students will have the opportunity to learn and experience Korean culture through various art activities. Culture is like a flower blooming in a tree.
When we follow each flower, we meet the root of the tree. In this way, Korean art and culture class is the class that meet the roots and spirit of Koreans through art activities.
The art was the first language of human beings. They have used art as a means of sharing information, communication, and as a tool of self-expression. In the absence of the letters, our ancestors left behind valuable information about the whales from how to hunt whales that is directly connected with the existence of communities through the Bangudae petroglyphs, and in the Joseon Dynasty, the scholars called Sunbi and the women of Gyubang expressed their identity and world view through various art forms.
The Korean art and culture class provide valuable educational opportunities to our students who were born and raised as American citizens, with Korean parent(s) to think and express about their identity through one of the most natural ways which is art.
