PTA 10-5-18

안녕하세요 AHN-NYEONG HA SE YO MKS Families!!

Thanks to all that joined us for Kimchi Time with Principal Shin!
It was a great bonding and learning experience for all. Principal Shin will be hosting other events so for those who did not get to join us this time, we hope you can be there for the next one.

Korean Parade is this Saturday October 6
MKS will participate in the 39th Korean Parade in Manhattan. If you’ve ever wanted to be part of a parade in NYC this is your chance! This is a great opportunity to share Korean culture and traditions in NYC while your child is on a float going down 6th Ave. This year, students in Orange class on up are invited to participate in the parade. Younger siblings of students of participating students are welcome to join as well. Students who are participating must wear either hanbok, talchum costume, or an MKS t-shirt. Parents of participating students must accompany their children to the parade.

The charter bus will leave school at 11:00am and take everyone to the parade point. Dismissal for participating families will be on 6th Ave. and 27th Street. Families who are not participating will pick up their child(ren) in the cafeteria at 12:50PM.

Please provide snack for your child(ren) even if they are participating in the parade.

School Dismissal
This week Principal Shin received an email from the custodian of Lab Middle School (where MKS borrows space) requesting that we leave the building by 1PM sharp so that their staff can clean the classrooms. Therefore, dismissal will be at 12:50PM going forward. Principal Shin will be sending out an email regarding these changes.

Dues
Thanks to everyone who has paid the PTA dues so far! Our school relies on the incredible support of you, our MKS parent community. These funds provide teacher snacks and event expenses for our children throughout the semester.

This is a gentle reminder for those who have not yet paid the PTA dues. Please find one of your friendly PTA members or our Vice Principal Ah-Young and we will be happy to take your check or cash. Checks should be made out to Manhattan Korean School PTA and please write PTA dues and your child’s name and class in the memo section.
The dues amount is as follows:
One child:$65 Two children:$120 3 or more children:$150.

Family Day
Due to the busy October calendar, Open Class and Family Day will now be on November 3. This is a PTA run event and a chance for everyone to participate and see what your child has been learning. We have a lot of exciting changes for this year so please join us in the FUN! More detailed info will be shared closer to the event.

See you Saturday!

Best,
MKS PTA
